PHASE ONE

Year 1: Regional Engagement & Data Collection

In the initial phase, our focus is on building the foundation of the Future Generations Tribunal. Through meticulous planning, we will select two locations from our identified regions within the first year and begin on-ground community outreach, individual relationship building, and establish partnerships with schools, universities, local NGOs, and other community stakeholders. This groundwork will enable us to move between areas engaging with children and youth through systematic surveying and dialogues. These interactions begin to formulate the needs and questions asked at the regional assemblies.

Following the surveys, an open portal for applicants, both online and on the ground, will be launched. From the diverse pool of submitted children, youth, and other intergenerational perspectives, 100-200 individuals will be invited to the regional assembly. The assembly, lasting a minimum of three days, is a platform for participants to share their truths while answering hard-hitting questions. During and after the assembly, a dedicated cohort of researchers, scholars, and members of the secretariat team will collect and activate the gathered stories, producing a comprehensive regional report.

Year 2: Scaling Impact & Knowledge Mobilization

The second year builds upon the foundation established, expanding the initiative to four other locations. While continually adapting the assembly to fit the needs of the region, the process replicates the engagement and assembly model, bringing forward a symphony of global stories.

The outcome of this phase is the creation of a knowledge-sharing branch. A database where the stories and solutions gathered are widely accessible, fostering a large and public mobilization. Each regional report, as well as the surveys, interviews, and dialogues on the ground, serve as a powerful knowledge base that sets the stage for the subsequent phases.

The ongoing database serves as a living testament to the realities behind the numerical data and legal jargon–it emphasizes the human stories and other forms of knowledge needed for change.

PHASE two

Year 2: Declaration Development

Building on the momentum of the first phase, the second phase transforms into a data analysis and synthesis endeavor to produce the Future Generations Declaration. Expert researchers and scholars will collaborate intensively with our Future Generations Council throughout the year to craft a robust declaration strategically designed to integrate into the appropriate multilateral system.

The Declaration is not just symbolism but will instead articulate the concrete obligations owed to future generations. It will become a visionary document defining the rights of the youth today and tomorrow and be the rallying battle cry for communities worldwide.

PHASE three

year 3 and beyond: Global Mobilization & Advocacy within the Multilateral System

This phase entails strategic engagements with global institutions, governments, and civil society to integrate the principles articulated from the Declaration into international policies and frameworks. This strategy is bolstered by the ongoing database, which is an accessible resource for future reports, university lessons and research, and various other sectors, fostering deep knowledge application, particularly in areas such as human rights, health, economics, and corporate practices such as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

With a solidified declaration, a robust repository of knowledge, and an actively engaged network of communities, the third phase unfolds with a concentrated focus on dynamic mobilization within the multilateral system.

Leveraging the wealth of accumulated knowledge and impactful stories, the Future Generations Tribunal will influence decision-makers, shaping a future prioritizing the well-being and rights of future generations.
