FUTURE GENERATIONS TRIBUNAL
Our Mission
Climate change, biodiversity loss, and toxic pollution form a triple planetary crisis, propelling humanity on an unprecedented trajectory toward catastrophic impacts on food and water access, health, safety, economic systems, and social structures.
We are establishing an institution designed to give youth real power over decision-making outcomes and processes, focused on seeking genuine justice for the existential perils young and future generations face.
Evidence-Based & Human Rights-Based Decision Making
Young and future generations’ physical ability to live and exercise rights is at stake.
To build global momentum behind real solutions, we need an institution where our collective well-being isn’t constantly opposed to short-term economic and political interests. We must go beyond Western legal realms to incorporate diverse systems of knowledge that have been shown to hold the keys to a world that doesn’t rely on the exploitation and exclusion of people and nature.
A GLOBAL INSTITUTION LED BY YOUTH, SERVING YOUTH
Children and youth must be able to share their stories and seek justice in a space tailored toward empowering their needs and priorities. It is the only way for their experiences, knowledge, wisdom, creativity, and resilience to be surfaced.
Because youth will share the future with generations yet to come, the Tribunal will organize them around the world to answer this question, among others:
